Comment: Do we miss “Amazing Grace” when we ask: “Why do bad things happen to ‘good’ people.” Jesus proclaimed: “Only God is good.” And on bad things, I will defer to St. Teresa de Avila who wrote late in life : “From the perspective of heaven, the most miserable suffering life ever lived is like a single night spent in a bad hotel.” This from an elderly lady who prayed as a young teenage nun, wracked with pain in a time when there wasn’t prescription pain relief: “Lord, if this is how you treat your friends, is it a wonder why you have so few of them!”
Question : What happened from the young nun to the old survivor still wracked with pain? I submit: The grace of God – Holy Spirit regeneration! Not by man’s effort!
