01/11/2021 – Day 239 – John 10 -12 //10:28: “And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.”
We will see “neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand” again in John 17 as Yeshua prays to the Father on our behalf.
I have one question on the story of Lazurus being raised from the dead after four days by Yeshua. Just before he called out Lazurus from the tomb, it says in 11:35: “Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, “See how He loved Him.” Indeed, but Yeshua knew all along what He was going to do. So, let’s ponder a moment why He was weeping when He knew Lazurus would be coming out from that tomb for all to be amazed at God’s healing power. What does that say to us?
In 10:10, Yeshua asserts: “… I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Does “abundantly” here mean we will have better, richer and happier lives? We can certainly find preachers that proclaim that message. (See John 12:25 . Or what does Paul tell Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:12. Or how about the Suffering for God’s glory section in 1 Peter 4: 12 – 19.)
If you have to call it one way or the other: Are “joy” and “pleasure” more synonyms or antonyms? At the inner core of eternal signficance, more the same, or more different?
Soli Deo Gloria!
