I didn’t realize that Mel Gibson’s character in the movie “The Patriot” was actually a composite character of three extraordinary war heroes from South Carolina. I enjoyed that movie. My favorite scene is where Benjamin Martin, Mel’s character takes his two younger sons, pre-teens even after a British patrol after the evil Colonel Tarleton kills one of his older sons in cold blood on their property. Pretty cool scene, the young sons do him proud with their courageousness.
