01/19/2021 – Day 248 – 1 Chronicles 20 – 24
“Is it well to number converts! [David] got into trouble by trying to number Israel. It is best to let the Lord keep the record. It makes me creep all over to hear a man tell how many he has converted.” D.L. Moody
Chapter 19 – 20: Talk about an elite fighting force, David’s small band of brothers were special, brought together by God. I expect they were akin to our SEAL teams, “no man left behind” and always pushing each other.
Chapter 21: The sin of David calling for the census seems perhaps to us a small sin, but the sin of pride was involved. And just as in the garden, where there is pride, there is Satan.
So once again, David shows that he indeed has a heart of God – 21:13 : “And David said to Gad, ‘I am in great distress. Please let me fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are very great, but do not le tme fall into the hand of man.”
