01/20/2022 – “No book in the world deserves to be so unceasingly studied, and so profoundly meditated upon as the Bible.” John Quincy Adams (1767 – 1848) – Sixth president of the United States. (comments attached)
I have read multiple books through the years on the Adams family, the latest being “The Education of John Adams” by R.B. Bernstein. It has been written of John Quincy, John Adam’s oldest son: “No man who ever entered the Presidency was better prepared to fill that office than John Quincy Adams.
When I read : “The Federalist Papers” in a Political Science course in college, I can still remember saying to myself: “Who were these guys !?!” I found out years later. The first six presidents in particular were all grounded at an early age in Christian Worldview education. (in the home!: See Deuteronomy 6: 5-9) They were taught “how to think” over “what to think”.
John Quincy first went with his father on ambassorial missions across the atlantic at the age of 10. His study regimen was unbelievable, including “History of the Peloponnesian Wars” by Thucyidides and Calculus And before the age of 20, he made multiple missions without his father in service to our young country. I have also read that through all his life, he was hardest on himself.
Soli Deo Gloria!
