01/21/2022 – Praying the Psalms: “May those who hope in you not be disgraced because of me, O Lord, the Lord Almighty; may those who seek you not be put to shame because of me, O God of Israel.” – Psalm 69:6 / (comments attached)

It is said in the bible that David had a heart for God. I submit this prayer verse bears evidence of that. Further, I recall when David the King was fleeing with his remaining loyal followers from his son Absalom. Along the way, “As King David approached Bahurim, a man from the clan as Saul’s family came out from there. His name was Shimei, son of Gera, and he cursed as he came out. He pelted David and all the king’s officals with stones,… Then, Abishai son of Zeruiah said to the king, ‘Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over and cut off his head.’ But the king said, ‘What do you and I have in common, you sons of Zeruiah? If he is cursing because the Lord said to him, ‘Curse David,’ who can ask, ‘Why do you do this?… It may be that the Lord will see my distress and repay me with good for the cursing I am receiving today.’ ” (See 2 Samuel 16: 5-14 – section: “Shimei curses David”) That brothers and sisters, is a mature faith that did not come from David; it is a gift from the Holy Spirit that is nurtured in humble prayer!

And I will add two more verses:

“Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the new generation, your might to all who are to come.” Pslam 71:18

“Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. Praise be to his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.” Psalm 72: 18-19 (Chapter 72 : “Of Solomon”)
