It is not about the messenger, I actually have quite the tag team today, a sermon for Sinclair Ferguson, another Scot!, follows in “2 of ?”. I put the “?” in because 1) I am not really sure how far it will go near term; and, 2) I will use the “?” for follow up study perhaps after we complete our year the end of May.

Ooops , having trouble with the site. I am going to come back later to try to pull the link. In the meantime, you can go directly to www.truthforlife.org . Then from the main menu click on sermons , then “by scripture”, then “2 Timothy” and you will see an overview that covers all chapters 1 – 4. I actually have the link to SInclair’s sermon in the next post already. Cool, this is it! This is visual as well and he uses a visual aid in this sermon.

Here is an 2 Timothy introduction sermon that is more recent, 2014 (pulled off of youtube, lol) :

Alistair notes that the 2 Timothy speaks directly to the church today. Three key themes : 1) Present focus of church leadership (nowhere), (2) Ties to the the framework of our life, and (2) Addresses our failures. In Paul’s day, leaders were veering off in rebellion. In our day, it is the loss of a connection to the exclusivity of the Bible, as Alistair notes.

We discuss the signs of end times dead ahead. Evil is rampant but this has been going on since Pentecost Sunday and the disciples. As Alistair points out, we must endeavor to be messengers for the next crop of Timothy’s regardless , our generation approaching or in young adulthood. We would say “millenials”. This generation has been largely indoctrinated increasingly by the pagan gulag education system in this country their entire public school years. And then a ramp up in our nation’s colleges. It shows. But the remnant church will never be defeated. I find that the millenial remnant is so fired up for Christ, they walk their talk, so much moreso than we did I believe, not even close.

Paul speaks of the rock solid faith of Timothy’s mother and his grandmother. My parents could be so characterized as well. “To whom much is given , much will be required.” Luke 12:48

For fellow baby boomers, I have a question: Can you name one fellow student in your public high school that was truly “fired up for the Lord!” I ask because I was in a high school with 2,000 students in suburban Denver, class of 73 , and I can’t name a single one! Is that sad or what?

March on like the victors we are through Christ! Keep your head!

Soli Deo Gloria!
