John 1:12 – 13; “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of god — children born not of natural descent nor of human decision or a husband’s will – but born of God.”

As Matthew Henry notes in his commentary for this verse: The Son of God became a Son of man, that the sons and daughters of men might become the sons and daughters of God Almighty. An unfathomable “heavenly honour” indeed! Let me add John Gill’s sublime commentary as well on these verses:

John 1:18: “No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known.”

The Trinity – Three in One: No less one than three. So that, Jesus is the One and Only.

In John 14:7: Jesus proclaims to Thomas: “If you knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

And here is John Gill’s commentary on the verse:

John 1: 29: “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” The Jewish people were well familiar with the sacrifices for a sign of the propitiation for their sins, but in general, they looked for their messiah in the conquering hero, not in a suffering God. But the next day, John repeated “Lamb of God” when he saw Jesus passing by. And interesting, we are told Andrew was one of the two disciples that immediately followed Jesus upon hearing this. If , I am not mistaken, Phillip I believe is the other one. So, did in fact they follow him from the power of the Holy Spirit, never having conceived of God, the suffering servant that would take on the sins of the world?

Soli Deo Gloria!
