02/03/2021 – Day 262 – Chronicles 1 – 5 – The Temple in Solomon’s reign, after 400 years…
My direct quotes will be all from Halley’s Bible Handbook for this book. “II Chronicles covers the same ground as I and II Kings, except it omits the narratives about the Kings of the seceded Ten Tribes.” Not to take issue with Halley’s here , but I don’t know about “seceded”, I think it was more spiritually imploded and were overrun by the Assyrians when God removed his protection. Of course, Judah will follow and here we are at the apex for the nation of Israel, of at least material prosperity and relative spiritual as well. Spiritually, I would start the downfall with Solomon and all his foreign wives. He starts out so well by asking for wisdom in order to serve the Him and nation.
I would like to recommend to you my posts on Day 209 – Ezekiel 37 – 42. Just search on “Day 209” at the upper right and it will take you to those posts. The first one , as I recall, has three temple comparison, #1 – Solomon’s temple and #3 – Herods temple, with perhaps a depiction of Ezekiel’s vision of the “millenial” kingdom. In dimensions, it just grows tremendously to the next one.
Solomon’s Temple stood 400 years (970 – 589 b.c.), Zerubbbabel’s coming off the Babylonian captivity 500 years (520 – 20 b.c.), and finally Herod’s (20 – A.D. 70).
