02/05/2022 – “Blessed Assurance” // Fanny Crosby – New York City (1873) – For beloved cousin Lois..
This song is for my beloved “baby” cousin Lois who went home to the Lord yesterday after valiantly battling with cancer for so many years, a three-time cancer survivor and a one-time cancer victim as her obituary notes. She is a warrior that glorified the Lord through her long struggle. I recall vividly a telephone call about 15 years or so past from her Minnesota home, roughly two weeks after an initial tough phone call sharing with me that she had been diagnosed with a reoccurence. She opened with “Jimmy! , I got it!”. It was a striking exuberant greeting shot across my bow. She went on: “I taped a prayer to my bathroom mirror so I assure it is a first for my day: “Lord, I don’t have a clue why you are taking me through this again. But I will choose this day to give you the glory through it!”
I was overcome with tears of joy.
She is the warrior messenger that gave me a much needed godly perspective booster that is so divergent from this world, for this indeed is God’s kingdom,so we fight through the struggles to an assured victory by His grace. (Impregnable!) She will be missed as I look forward to a reunion at the gates, singing praises to our Lord! Always connected by His grace…”
Soli Deo Gloria!
