03/03/2021 – Day 290 – 2 Chronicles 20 – 24 – Study! Pray! Live!

“Only a true gospel, preached, and demonstrated by God’s people, can overcome the moral corruption in our county. Study! Pray! Live!” Paul Washer

Right in the middle of our reading, we read about Athaliah , last of the line of the terror of Ahab and Jezebel, murdered all of the royal heirs to the throne. But God rescued the youngest Joash , hiding him away for six years as a young child during Athaliah’s reign of terror.

Joash shows such promise early on, as he reforms and rebuilds the temple. But with the death of the Jehoida, the high priest, at the ripe old age of 130, Joash succombs to his evil advisors. And sadly, he finishes his 40 year reign in weakness, in the middle of the 7th century b.c., roughly in the middle of line of the kings. The attached article is a good summary , pointing out that we have roughly 250 years before the destruction of the temple and the Babylonian captivity. (link below)

We too are going through a godless sordid history cycle in this country that appears to be entering a deeper pit of murder and mayhem, as pagan marxism always has. So, we must hold fast, remembering that God is sovereign. We give glory to God by fighting through these times as relentless warriors for His truth, as He has called us to be. We always have an unseen angel cheering section behind us. We get stronger by keeping and building a strong witness presense, for within the muck of this world, we are God’s messengers that deliver our future brothers and sisters. We are at war with the Devil and his minions. But His remnant church is an impregnable base camp where we arm up for the next battle. Let’s spend out time wisely, or we can get caught up dancing with the world, whose father is the Devil. God forbid, lest we grieve the Holy Spirit!

Who are our mentors that preceded us? Well, we have already read through their stories : Isaiah; Jeremiah and Ezekiel to name just three. And we have deeper run coming up through Nahum (tomorrow); Habakkah; Zephaniah; Haggai; Zechariah; and, Malachi . And then we conclude our Saturday year with a four week sweep through Revelation. Interesting, a long line of actual historical prophets , ending with Revelation on the “prophets” theme.

Soli Deo Gloria!
