03/16/2023 – Chapter 21 Discussion – “The Future”

0

I would like to share two short excerpts from this four page chapter:

“God has told us the most important thing we can possibly know about our future. He has not told us the details of our future either on earth or in Heaven… He has not told us what it is but He has told us where; it is in His hand. And He has told us that therefore ‘all things work together for good’ for us… We fear nothing. (p. 99)”

“De Caussade uses another image, the master chess player: ‘When it comes to the moment of our death, the Holy Spirit, who secretly moves alll the pieces on the board of life by his continual and fruitful activity, will say: ‘Let there be light.’ Then we shall behold all the riches which faith alone knew were hidden [in the puzzling moves of divine providence on the chessboard of our lives]’ (p. 115).”

For myself, my takeaway is to march forward in faith like a little child. In doing so, back to Chapter 20, I capture “The Sacrament of the Present Moment.” In heaven, time is removed; how do we get our heads around that? So, the “Sacrament of the Present Moment” laser focuses us on worship, praise and faith of our Lord and Savior. Funny, it connects up nicely with our Sapphire Devotional yesterday: “Narrow Up a Child”. That would be me, “narrow up” , or laser focused on all that really matters… Everything, perfect and holy emanates from God’s essence, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Soli Deo Gloria! Today we start with Chapter One in our Twenty One Chapter study and fellowship in the Gospel of John, ending Maundy Thursday.
