03/25/2023 – “All Things Bright and Beautiful” /Words written by Cecil Francis Alexander (1840s) & performed here: National Taiwan University Chorus

The words were written by a woman, Cecil Frances Alexander, in the 1840s and published in her Hymns for Little Children (1848). The melody is from a 17th-century English country dance tune, ‘The 29th of May’. As the lyrics quoted above show, the hymn is a celebration of God’s divine creation, celebrating the idea (common across all Christian denominations, of course) that God created all living things.
