03/27/2025 – “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;” Luke 6:37 / Comments below: Differentiating between “judging” and “scriptural mandated church discipline”, and between those within the church body and those future christians outside of the church.
The Evil of The Righteous

Thursday, March 27, 2025
As children of God, we should know what is right and holy, and what is sin and to be condemned. In looking around us, we see a world filled with sinners- dishonest, materialistic, bitter, prideful, stubborn, sensual, manipulative, abusive, greedy, self-centered… sinners. We feel good that as children of God we’re holy and blameless, but we still have to deal with all these sinners. In Hebrew, the word rasha means sin and evil, but the same world also means to cast judgment. When you cast judgment on people for being more sinful than you or think that you’re more holy, your judgment doesn’t make you more righteous, but more sinful. When you judge other believers or churches for being less spiritual than you are, you just became less spiritual. When you judge that person for not being loving, guess who also just became unloving. The true holy one is the one who keeps no record of sin. Therefore, be pure, be holy, and be innocent. Have nothing to do with ‘rasha’ either way, because those who are blameless are those who do not cast blame.

There is also a verse in Matthew that says: “Do not judge, lest you be judged.” But I have heard that within the church being misinterpreted, using it to reject church discipline. Read 1 Corinthians 6: 1-11 “Lawsuits Against Believers”. “Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? How much more , then matters pertaining to this life!”
So, indeed, how can we judge non-believers? For we would not be saved ourselves if not for the intervening grace of the Holy Spirit. But within the body of Christ, church discipline is a must. Paul mentions elsewhere even a last step measure of “ex-communicating” fellow souls from the church as a last step measure , so that they might see the error of their ways and return. And of course, we have a secular rule of law that non-believers are obviously subject to judgement and punishment. Judging here in Luke 6:37 is speaking of judging souls, even conjecturing who is going to heaven and who is not, God forbid! A non-believer , outside of the church, cannot be “disciplined” within the church by definition.
Soli Deo Gloria!
