“The real problem is not why some pious, humble, believing people suffer, but why some do not.” C.S. Lewis

Verse reference to the above quote is 4:13. I am going to type out 4:12 – 4:14, one of my memory verses: “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you, but rejoice to the extent that you partake in Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorifed.”

“Joy in the Bible is the means by which we are sustained in suffering… and joy is that for which suffering is preparing us.” John Piper

4:5: “They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.”

My footnote to the above verse:

Daniel Webster (1782 – 1852), politician and diplomat, is considered one of the greatest orators in American history. When asked, ‘What is the greatest thought that ever passed through your mind?’ Webster responded, ‘My accountability to God.’ “

And the farewell in 1 Peter 5:14 :
“Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you all who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.”
