04/12/2021 – Day 330 – Acts 19 – 20 // “Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?”

If you have already completed the reading, you know that quote in the title comes from the evil spirits (the devil’s minions), but I will repeat the verses for you:

“Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of Lord Jesus over those who were demon possessed. They would say, “In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day, the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and I know about Paul , but who are you?” Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.”

Have you noticed in Scripture that the demons have no trouble identifying Jesus and who He is? Yet, how is it many of our oldest Christian denominations are getting increasingly confused on who Jesus is? Why won’t the evil spirits attack Paul as they did the seven sons of Sceva?

Soli Deo Gloria!
