We caught this movie on Prime Video.
This movie covers the struggle of William’s surviving band of brothers to get the Medal of Honor awarded to him, finally accomplished in 2000, 34 years after this death. The title of this movie hearkens back to Abraham Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg Address: “It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here gave the last full measure of devotion.”
William is only one of three Air Force enlisted members that have received the Medal of Honor. The Air Force pararescue groups were and are very special. I think the scene at the end speaks to what one messenger of Christ can accomplish by God’s grace for so many, even a generation+ later. And, of course, there is a healing at the end of the road.
