There have been points where Alistair notes we must remember that the “best of men are men at best.” And such was David, but he heart for God. It is not a contest, but I try at a minimum to keep up with Alistair’s scriptural connections, both in retrospect back to previous sermons and forward to Jesus and the Gospel. Here he adds that he believes that his kindness and love to shown to Mephibosheth was David at his best, even moreso than that with the showdown with Goliath. And the connections explode into joyous “Soli Deo Gloria”!
