05/07/2021 – Day 355 – Song of Solomon 5 – 6 // 5: 6 – 9 Breaking though my confusion thanks to John Gill’s commentary.

Yes, this can refer literally to Solomon’s Shulamite favorite wife amongst wives and concubines that number around 1,000. But ramping it up, it can refer the blessing of my marriage. And let’s ramp it up to the bride’s love, analogous to the remnant Church for Yeshua , the Christ.

I want to share with you my Evidence Bible footnote on chapter 5:6, followed by John Gill’s commentary on 5:7, stepping through his commentary on the following two verses as well. It was truly edifying for me.

First, the 5:6 footnote: “Do you ever feel forsaken by God? Then don’t live by what you “feel”. Live by faith in the immutable promises of God. If you have been born again and your lifestyle reveals evidence of regeneration, then know for certain that He will never leave you nor forsake you. Believe that with all your heart. He who promised is faithful. (see Hebrews 10:23)”

Now John Gill’s commentary from 5:7 through 5:9:

So, if I had been only looking on the 1st or 2nd level of this multi-dimensional interpretation, I would be left with: “I can’t comment on this, it is too hot!” But I will say, on the 2nd level, I say, praise God indeed!, the blessing of my bride of 30 years. There is that memory bible verse: “Luke 12:48: “… For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required….”

Soli Deo Gloria!

Love,

Your brother in Christ,

Jimmy
