Lest we forget , let’s take another look at Job 19: 25 -27 in the attached link beginning with : “I know that my Redeemer lives.” Brothers and Sisters, this is unbelievable, a profession of faith in our Redeemer and ultimate redemption from the oldest book of the Bible. Again, I would note, that Jewish belief in an afterlife did not really begin until the Macabbees – approximately the 2nd century B.C. At the time of Jesus, only the Pharisees had a solid belief in an afterlife.

So, let us take a note of compassion on Job if he seems to have slipped here in 29: 18-19: “I thought, ‘I will die in my own house, my days as numerous as the grains of sand.” . For he comes right back in verse 20: “My glory will remain fresh in me, the bow ever new in my hand.”

Soli Deo Gloria!
