06/13/1955 – Day 011 – Psalm 3 – 5 – Post 1 of 2 / “The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity.” Psalm 5:5 – Does God hate sinners?
The commentary footnote in “The Evidence Bible – NKJV” reads:
“5:5. Does God hate sinners? How can God hate sinners when John 3:16 says that He loves the world? Norman Geisler and Thomas Howe write, ‘There is no contradiction in these statements. The difficulty arises when we wrongly assume that God hates in the same way men hate. Hatred in human beings is generally thought of in terms of strong emotional distaste or dislike for someone or something. However, in God, hate is a judicial act on the part of a righteous judge who separates the sinner from Himself’ (When Critics Ask). See Psalm 7: 11 -13 comment.”
Ok, let’s let scripture testify to scripture by following the footnote comments. First – Psalm 7: 11 -13, the verse followed by the commentary:
“God is a just judge. And God is angry with the wicked every day. If he does not turn back, He will sharpen His sword; He bends His bow and makes it ready. He also prepares for Himself instruments of death; He makes His arrows into fiery shafts.” Psalm 7: 11 – 13 (insert: next Thursday’s lesson)
“7: 11-13 This is the message we must bring to a sinful world. God is angry with the wicked every day. His wrath abides on them (John 3:36). Every time they sin, they are storing up for themselves wrath that will be revealed on the Day of Judgment (Romans 2:5). Unless they are convinced that there is wrath to come, they will not flee to the One who can deliver them from the wrath (1 Thessalonians 1:10). See 1 Timothy 1: 9,10 comment.” Psalm 7: 11-13 (insert: next Thursday’s lesson)

Funny, I didn’t know that this was going to lead to the issue of homosexuality. If I have a son that is practicing a gay lifestyle, and I don’t use the Law to bring the knowledge of sin to him, as uncomfortable as that is, I haven’t shown him the only path to redemption through Jesus Christ. How awful is that? Do I ignore it because it isn’t comfortable?
