I remember my father saying that Lincoln was like a cable on a suspension bridge: “The more stress and tension on it, the stronger it gets.” A very apt analogy for a civil engineer it was indeed.

Well, we see here a prayer in this article, or prayer and faith in God in general that seems to be the root source of that strength. It doesn’t hurt to have an actor like Daniel Day Lewis, but the movie “Lincoln” is an excellent protrayal. Also, although not acclaimed, I much enjoyed the movie: “Gettysburg” with Martin Sheen and Tom Berenger, 1983. Of course, the 2nd Maine’s courageous stand on Little Round Top was inspiring, including the events that led up to it for that group. I recall Chamberlain’s speech to the troops prior to Gettysburg in answer to : “Why do we fight?”

Soli Deo Gloria!

Love,

Jimmy
