07/03/2022 – We recommend: “Father Stu”
We caught this movie last night on Amazon prime. We struggled in places hearing all of the pithy and profound witness to Christ alone dialog through “Father Stu”. And this movie is based on a true story, an amazing sanctification walk full of struggles along the way. To take a one sentence diversion: This past week I heard a very powerful witness from Jon Voight on a Tucker Carlson interview who at a real low and desperate ebb in his life , cried out: “This is hard”, heard an immediate audible reply fromt the Lord: “It is supposed to be hard!”
This movie to me connects in Truth similar to the book: “Ragamuffin Gospel” by Brennan Manning. “We are a mess; but we are redeemed mess by His grace”: Brought to us princicipally by the characters played by Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg, who have walked a similar “ragumuffin” trail in the real lives as well.
