07/04/2025 – “Independence Day, the greatest revolution …” / Comment: A paradox of human existence.
The great paradox of human existence: Suffering makes us stronger individually and collectively, whereas, ‘good times’ make us weaker, even up to the point of total collapse. Also by way of paradox, my father’s striking words of wisdom didn’t hit me until well after he got called home to the Lord. He said: “Our generation grew up in the midst of the Great Depression. Upon graduating from high school, we went straight into World War II. Everything after that, seemed like “gravy”! I feel sorry for your generation, for you are going to be faced with the opposite scenario, and that is so much tougher. You grew up “easy”, faced with ending with “tough times”. ” Indeed, we still call them “The greatest generation”, but then they had the best training early on!
