07/15/2025 – “All Christian denominations explained in 12 minutes.” Youtube video by “Redeemed Zommer” / Fascinating and witty!
Quick comment: I used to be able to copy and paste from YouTube without being a “premium member” , but that collapsed a few weeks ago. So, I will give you exactly my search term(s), from which you will have no problems identifying the video and clicking on it to play.
Here is the YouTube search string:
“All Christian denominations explained in 12 minutes – Redeemed Zoomer”
I also watched a commentary post that played key segments of the 12 minutes. It was I believe more useful than watching the “Redeemed Zoomer”, a 2nd time.
Search string:
“All Christian denominations explained in 12 minutes (Reaction) Isaiah Saldivar”
For information: Isaiah identified himself as a “Non-denominational charismatic pentecostal”.

Comments:
Ok , fascinating in itself how this Redeemed Zoomer video went so viral, so quickly. Seriously, with the subject being christian denominations”. But my opinion: It is well deserved.

My biggest surprise: At the end, he put up a list noting that the denominations listed were a question mark whether or not thy believed in the basic tenets of the christian faith. Here are the tenants presented:
“Christian Essentials (noting Nicene Creed as a source ) : Truly human and truly God / born of the Virgin Mary / died for our sins / rose from the dead / ascended and will return”
I think I can capture all of the “undetermined” here: Church of Christ / Quaker / Jehovah’s Witness / Mormons (Church of Later Day Saints) / Radically Progressive / Word of Faith (WoF) – (*A – below) / Prosperity Gospel / Assyrian Church of the East. Ok, here are the ones that surprised / maybe even “shocked” me: Church of Christ and Quaker.
(*A) – see the following definition from www.bereanresearch.org :
“The world’s fastest-growing false religion tells us that our faith is a “force,” and the words we speak have the power to create something new. The Word of Faith proponents promise we can obtain health, wealth, success, and more if we simply have enough faith. Biblical Christianity says no.”
Here are the two on the list that surprised / maybe even “shocked” me: Church of Christ and Quaker. Of course, I may not know those two as much as I thought I did…

Just to share my background: “Split family” church worship: Mother – Missouri Synod Lutheran / Father – a long line of Scot Roman Catholics. (Comment: You may be wrong per se, but it took guts to have been a dedicated Catholic in Scotland. My wife on the other hand, is more Scot than I am, a long line of Presbyterians, amongst the overwhelming majority. In fact, she traces genealogy to one line that goes through John Knox. haha)
(1) I have strong sympathies to the following denominations: Missouri Synod Lutheran (*B); Orthodox Presbyterian; and, last, but not as far behind as one might think: Eastern Orthodox.
(*B) – My maternal grandmother came from a long-line of staunch German / Polish Missouri Synod Lutherans. Luther, one of my mother’s older brothers was a lifelong Midwest LCMS pastor. I was sharing with adults as early as sixth grade that I felt called to follow in his footsteps.
I was relieved that this video’s description of Roman Catholics did not include the following: “They aren’t Christians! (*D) ” / “They pray to Mary” / “They put Jesus back on the cross every Sunday with their transsubstantiation position on the Eucharist!” (*C) / They pray to Mary!
(*C) – It is not about the messenger, but I heard Alistair say this very thing in the pulpit one Sunday. (very sad – really Alistair ?!?) // “Only God can measure a human heart” – But I highly suspected that Jorge Bergoglio (a.k.a. – pope Francis) was way more Marxist than christian… But , are we going to pronounce (“judge”!)the following souls were not Christians ? : Augustine; Francis of Assisi ; Mother Teresa; Pope John Paul II; last but not least – William Wallace Bruce, my father…..?
(2) Yes, I submit that Mormons and Jehovah Witness are outside the “christian” faith, simply because they reject Jesus as co-equal and co-eternal with the father. But, I will leave it to God on whether or not they are “saved”. My Uncle Luther told a beloved peer cousin of mine , who had turned his life around, just having converted to Mormonism, that he would go to hell if he didn’t turn away. That was one of the major turning points that turned me away from the LCMS church in my late teens, not by any means saying it should have. And p.s. – I actually read the Book of Mormon at my cousin Neal’s urging. I told him afterward, that with prayer, I couldn’t convert over. We stayed in contact through letters after that: Neal in Germany as a Mormon missionary and me in S.E. Asia with the Army.
(3) Eastern Orthodox – Regarding the stated emphasis on mystery and incomprehensibility of God: That might very well explain much of my draw to that denomination. But from what I know about the denomination, I would take issue with this video’s upfront emphasis on “apophatic spirituality”. Check me on this but my best efforts at a definition would be : “an emphasis of what “I don’t know about God” over and above what “I do know” or firmly believe.” Take for example the following attributes: holiness; omniscience/ omnipotence / omnipresent / transcendent / immanent / self-existent… Just because I never will experience these attributes myself does not in any way say that “I don’t know” these attributes. There is still an “incomprehensibility” attribute that cannot be ignored. For if it is, ignored, we slip into the original sin: “I am god!”
Gotta run! This was fun! haha. Yes, the presbyterian in me: “Theology” nerd as noted in this video. By God’s grace , I discipline myself back to “witness the Good News”. I was going to tag this post with the “satire” category but decided against it as it is there, but remotely secondary.
Love,
Jimmy
p.s. – And 43,000 individual comments on top of the million views on the YouTube video. Unbelievable.. Or course, that is not what makes it worthy of a 12 minute view. It is not good to be a constant follower of the “herd”. For oftentimes, it is headed right over a clif, such is the nature of “this world”.
