07/16/2025 – Day 360 – Esther 1 – 10 // Chapter 9: 18 – 32 – “The Feast of Purim” – “.. that these day should be remembered and kept throughout every generation…” (Esther 9: 27,28)
I ran across this commentary sermon on Esther 1 – 10 from Skip Heitzig , Calvary Church through is series: “the Bible from 30,000 feet.” I doubt I will be able to get to this one hour presentation but just to say that series is solid. Here is the link, interesting, I could copy and paste this one over.

The commentary on this reading in our first cycle was dated 05/12/2021. I mention it because it draws a parallel in how the LORD confounds the evil schemes of the Devil, in this case, from this story to Christ and the cross.
From here, briefly, I am going to share four short verse commentaries from “The Evidence Study Bible – NKJV”:
7:6 “We have an adversary, Satan, who roams about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (see 1 Peter 5:8). Unrepentant sin give the enemy permission to destroy.”

8:8 “If the king’s decree could be immutable, how much more is the decree of God! See his marvelous decree in Psalm 2: 7,8.”
“I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, You are my Son, Today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and will give You the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.” Psalm 2: 7,8

9:13 “Esther had the ten sons of Haman hanged. This is a picture of ‘repentance toward God,’ when we rid ourselves of the enemy by putting to death the works of the flesh – the nature received from the father the devil (See John 8:44, Ephesians 2:2)
“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” (John 8:44)
“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you have walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lust of the flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh, and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.” (Ephesians 2: 1-3)

9: 27,28 “Purim is celebrated annually on the 14th day of Adar, the day following the victory of the Jews over their enemies. As with all Jewish holidays, Purim begins at sundown on the previous day.”
“the Jews established and imposed it upon themselves and their descendants and all who would joint hem, that without fail they should celebrate these two days every year, according to the written instructions and according to the prescribed time, that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation ,every family, every province, and every city, that these days of Purim should not fail to be observed among the Jews, and that the memory of them should not perish among their descendants.” (Esther 9: 27-28)
