I am reposting with a question: Do you agree with my last paragraph? Thoughts?

One add to original post – We have a sense of humor , for God has a sense of humor; the satire in Chapter 41 is more than ample evidence of that fact.

Ok, here is the repost from October 9, 2020:

“Job’s friends chose the right time to visit him, but took not the right course of improving their visit; had they spent the time in praying for him which they did in hot disputes with him, they would have profited him; and pleased God more.” William Gurnall

So Ch. 42-verses 8 – 9: The Lord proclaims to Elizphaz, Biladad and Zephar: “My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job , and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering and My servant Job shall pray for you. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you acccording to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.”

And right behind it we are told that the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. I recall twenty plus years ago at the end of Job in a 90 day read through the Bible, a brother attempted to make a concluding case that in fact, the suffering proved to be like a “good investment”. That’s the ticket!; a hyperdose of prosperity gospel that would make the prosperity prophet Joel Osteen proud.

Yea, I don’t get it. If I had 20 of the most strikingly beautiful and intelligent “successful” kids that were the rave of the community, somehow it wouldn’t even begin to console me over the loss of just one of the children that I had before. As amazing a love that is, it is not a blip relative to God, who embodies love perfectly and infinitely, So,isn’t it an obvious and easy proof that Jesus would have died on the cross for every one of us, even if it were just one of His children.

Soli Deo Gloria!; always connected through prayer and by His grace!
