08/04/2025 – “The Melchizedek Mystery” / “The Lord has sworn an oath and will not take it back: ‘Forever, You are a priest like Melchizedek.” (Psalm 110-4)
Your Own Melchizedek

Monday, August 4, 2025
The high priest of Israel could never become king, nor could the king ever become the high priest. The kingship and the priesthood were two separate bloodlines and tribes -They could never be joined. Yet, in the book of Zechariah, God calls the prophet to place the crown on the high priest’s head and prophesy of “One” called “the Branch” who would be both king and priest. Who is that One? Messiah Yeshua, Jesus, who is both King, of the royal line of Israel, and High Priest after the order of Melchizadek. The name of the high priest upon whom the crown was placed was “Joshua” or “Yehoshua” in Hebrew. “Yeshua” is a form of the same name; Nehemiah 8:17. Even that points to the identity of Messiah the Branch – Jesus. Thus, no one was allowed to be both king and priest but Messiah. Messiah is always more than you think He is, better than you believe He is, and more wonderful. So get to know Him even more, because when it comes to Him, there’s no end to how much more there is to know.
From Message #1301 – The Melchizedek Mystery
Scripture: Psalm 110:4
TODAY’S MISSION – Today, take time to get to know more of your Messiah than you do now, because there is so much more of Him to know.

The footnote to Psalm 110:4 in the “Apologetics Study Bible”:
“110:4 The decree of God makes this king a priest, not after the order of Aaron and the Mosaic law but the order of Melchizedek, priest-king of ancient Jerusalem (Salem, Genesis 14:18). The Davidic king was from the tribe of Judah and his priesthood, which was not in service for animal sacrifice, was to come from a different origin. Thus David wore the priestly ephod when celebrating the installation of the ark of the covenant in Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6:14). Once the sacrifices were fulfilled in the death of Christ (Romans 3:25), the temple rites were no longer required. Only Then could another order of priesthood be installed. Melchizedek, priest of God Most High, blessed Abraham – ancestor of all Israel – and received his tithe; he was the ideal pattern for this new priesthood (see the discussion in Hebrews 5: 6-10; 7:22).”
Soli Deo Gloria!
