I noticed yesterday that Jordan Peterson had joined Ben Shapiro on the Daily WIre. I like them both, so that might push me over the top to pay for Daily WIre subscription. The monthly is not that much, it doesn’t take many ten minute segments like this with the two of them to justify my subscription cost.

I would have liked to have been in the room for this one. I presume the 3rd gentleman is Rubin of the Rubin Report. If I had been in the room, this is what I would have like to have contributed:

  • Ben said he didn’t know Christianity like he did Judaism. I think he knows alot more than many lifelong christians. But i would have like to ask him what C.S. Lewis, among others, wrote about years ago. Namely, what do you think of Jesus? And if he said he was a great prophet, I would submit that he claimed he was the Son of God, allowing for either two possibilities: 1) He was a liar or insane; or 2) He is in fact the Son of God. And then I would just ask him has he ever considered that God’s holiness is unfathomable just as is His power. So, holy that he cannot tolerate any sin, for it is runs counter to His very essence and is an affront to His sovereignty. No man is then “good enough” for heaven which explains the necessity for Christ’s substitutionary atonement. The unblemished Lamb of God took our place on the cross.
  • Ben also claims that Christainity “back doors” good works . And Jordan notes sanctification as well. I would just note to them good works are a natural consequence of true faith, you can’t help but perform good works after giving your heart and your life to Christ. But good works has nothing to do directly with salvation in itself, it is just trail evidence.

Ben notes the conflict between “free will” and “God’s sovereignty”, the dreaded “predestination”, God choosing us, not us choosing Him. That indeed to the human mind is unreconciable, but that doesn’t mean one or both are untrue. It is just beyond our capacity, like me trying to explain to my dog the fundamentals of calculus. We are still called to worship God with our minds (Romans 12:2), as these two gentlemen do in their daily walks.

  • Jordan posits the conflict between the individual and the state. “The state” suggests government here on earth but the same question can be pondered with the substitution of the eternal “body of Christ”. God loves every soul unfathomably. He created us all uniquely with individual gifts and personalities, so he loves us uniquely as well The two come together with the perfect agape love of heaven, they coalesce as one, just as the Trinity does: Three persons, One God!

So, take ten minutes. The ten minutes that by itself, would justify my first month’s subsciption price and more. And last but not least!: Pray for both of these two future warriors for Christ, that they will accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I have heard short clips from Jordan, dated a year or so back, that had me questioning whether or not he was already converted.

Soli Deo Gloria!

p.s. for humor:

Both of these guys play in a league above me, cognitively speaking. They are like major league baseball players that actually can “wait” on a 100 mph fastball. I would have to start swinging in the middle of the pitcher’s windup. But Ben talks as quickly as the thinks, so much so that I can’t even understand what he is saying sometimes. He brings back memories of Robin Williams, the comedian. Robin would throw out satirical historical references that made you wonder what small percentage of the audience even picked up on it. Jordan, I expect is just as quick cognitively, yet, he pauses oftentimes in mid sentence to articulately and carefully compose just the right words. Just sayin….
