08/21/2022 – “I believe because it is absurd.” Tertullian (155 A.D. – 220 A.D) / brief comments attached…
Earlier this week as I was looking for a quote from the Tertullian library, I ran across this one, finally exiting after a reflective pause with: “I’m not going to post that , that is absurd!” But by God’s grace, even in “small” things, I get it why the Spirit was leading me here:
If one looks at our foundational beliefs and the evil world around us, could one even imagine such an outlandish polyanna type story for an explanation of absolute truth? (noting today that our world of today doesn’t accept “absolute truth” as a concept, let alone a reality) But then, “what if it is in fact true, and you walk away from it never to return again?”
SolI Deo Gloria indeed!
p.s. – God has a sense of humor too, so we do too, as we are “image-bearers”.
