09/25/2022 – Chapter 5 – “How This Truth Changes Your Life” // Group Discussion corner – for continual growth beyond where we thought we could go, by God’s grace…
A very close brother told me awhile back: “Your blog is ‘derivative’, which I would translate: “copy cat”. I am thankful for comments, even more for constructive comments, but I would say here, albeit in limited perspective: “You bet, why would I paraphrase a messenger more knowledgable than me, when I can quote an excerpt”. And that applies here to this three page chapter:
-New term for me up until this book: “omnibenovelent”. I’ll go ahead and share the context as well – pgs. 34-35:
“By believing Romans 8:28; by believing that “trust and obey” will infallibly bring us to joy because God is omnibenevent (He wills our greatest joy) and omnipotent (He is able to ‘work’ all things together for that end, since all things are His things, His creation), and omniscient (He never makes mistakes about what really leads to our joy).
In other words, God is not only ‘nearer to me than I am to myself’, as Augustine says, and therefore knows me far better than I know myself, but also loves me more than I love myself.”
- Further logical proof: “Our deepest desire is for both peace and joy. God’s deepest desire is also for our peace and joy! We can’t lose, because God can’t lose! Insofar as we believe that equation, that identity, between His will and ours, we will love His will as we love our own. And insofar as we do that, we will will it. And insofar as we do that, we will become holy.”
- Unfathomably sublime.
Soli Deo Gloria!:By God’s grace, I do in fact believe the equation as in “All in”. So, God allows me to suffer! Does that bring into question the premise that God’s deepest desire is my peace and joy? (See Jordan Peterson and Fr. Dave discussion post this week: “Religion and Personal Destiny”)
Always connected through prayer and by His grace! Grab on and don’t ever let go!
