09/26/2024 – Day 095 – Psalm – Chapter 39 – 41 / Just a three verse focus: Psalm 40: 6-8 with the help of John Gill’s commentary.
It has been too long since I brought in John Gill’s free online commentary, covering every single verse of the Bible. Let’s read just three verses again together, along with John Gill’s commentary for those verses. And finally share our reflections as a group:
“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire — but my ears you have opened — burnt offerings and and sin offerings you did not require. Then I said, Here I am, I have come — it is written about me in the scroll. (*A). I desire to do your will my God; your law is within my heart.” Psalm 40: 6 – 8
(*A) – footnote text: “In Hebrew texts 41: 1-13 is numbered 41: 2-14.”
The link starts with verse 6. Just toggle a verse each time at the top of the page.

Questions for fellowship generation, the lifelong sanctification process:
- What does the text reveal about God’s character?
- How has this reading generated prayer for you and/or us?
- What themes stand out to you in this bible study?
- How does our reading fit into the bigger picture (creation, the fall, restoration, etc.)?
- What verse(s) jumped out at you like never before? Is it explainable at this point?
- Do you have any questions you would like to put before the group as to how to interpret any particular verse(s) in our reading. Let scripture testify to scripture: Share with us where you sense contradiction between passages elsewhere and outside our our fellowship group.
- Share with the group how our study is calling or confirming to you a new mission to glorify God in our times.
Soli Deo Gloria!
