10/05/2022 – Re: Bible “trivia” – Do y’all have any head slappers to add to my two examples here?
As many times as I have read through the entire Bible, I should have known these two examples right off the top of my head. As we head into the home stretch completion of this cycle, share with us any that occurred to you personally. Because, I tagged it “trivia” but not is trivial concerning biblical knowledge. Thoughts of a category name?: I’m thinking we could set up a standardized search or filter key to pull up history in this ongoing exercise.
Bible Knowledge Round:
example 1:
Briefly distinguish between the following six Old Testament Books in the Bible:
#1: 1st Samuel – Birth of Samuel to death of Saul and Jonathan in battle.
#2: 2nd Samuel – David throughout.
#3: 1st Kings – From Solomon becomes King to Ahab Killed
#4: 2nd Kings – Elijah taken up to heaven to Fall of Jerusalem
#5: 1 Chronicles – 9 chapters genealogy/ David – King to Death of David – Judean Kings only.
#6: 2 Chronicles – Solomon to Fall of Jerusalem – Judean kings only.
So:
#2 = #5 – a repetition except for the added genealogy in 1 Chronicles.
#2 + #3 + #4 covers all kings for all 12 tribes whereas #5 + #6 covers all kings in the tribe of Judah only.
Example #2:
I saw this one by quickly browsing Nancy’s women’s bible study source text, a book on Parables by John MacArthur:
- Of the Synoptic Gospels, only Matthew and Mark contain any Parables. Luke and John do not contain any parable quotes from Jesus. Mark only has six parables, and only one that is not in Matthew.
Soli Deo Gloria!
