Pudgy’s Dance
Monday, October 7, 2024
When I was a child, my dog Pudgy hated baths. But afterwards, she’d run around jumping for joy. Even the dog knew this truth – after a bath, you feel great. You may not run around and jump on the couch, but it’s a great feeling. If we feel that good after taking a bath of water, how much better should we feel if we allow God to cleanse our hearts, souls, and spirits? We often think of asking God for cleansing in negative terms. But it’s a positive, beautiful, and joyful thing. If you let your heart be cleansed by the Spirit of God, then your heart will come out new, fresh, and revived. If you let your mind be cleansed by God, your mind will come out of it a new and refreshed mind. Let your life be cleansed by God and it will become a new, revived, and refreshed life. Come to God and be cleansed. You’ll come out clean, fresh, new, and revived. And you may even feel like running around and jumping on a couch.

“I will also sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and all your idols.” Ezekiel 36:25
Check out the commentary in my Apologetics Study Bible for the passage: 36: 24-32:
“This passage expands on 11: 14-21, the Lord’s promise to the returning exiles, in a series of affirmations. (1) The Lord will honor His promises of restoration (v24). (2). He will cleanse the people from their idolatry (v25). (3). He will give them a ‘new heart’ and ‘new spirit” (v. 26) (4). His Spirit will enable them to walk in His laws (v. 27). (5). They will live permanently in the land (v. 28). (6). The Lord will renew His covenant affirmation to have then as His people and be their God (v. 28; cp. Jeremiah 31: 32-33). (7) The land will again be productive (vv 29-30; cp. Amos 9: 13-15). (8). The Judean’s will remember their idolatry and ‘loathe” themselves (v. 31). (9). Their cities will be resettled (v. 33). (10). Desolate land will again be cultivated (v. 34). (11). The land will be as productive as the garden of Eden (v. 35). (12). All surrounding nations will acknowledge what Yahweh has done (v. 36). He will bless and increase His people like a flock (v. 37).
Soli Deo Gloria!
