Our post last cycle for this reading is dated 06/15/2022, a sermon over this scripture from Alistair Begg, if you want to check in.

Questions for our fellowship:

  • What does the text reveal about God’s character?
  • How has this reading generated prayer for you and/or us?
  • What themes stand out to you in this bible study?
  • How does our reading fit into the bigger picture (creation, the fall, restoration, etc.)?
  • What verse(s) jumped out at you like never before?  Is it explainable at this point? (*A)
  • Do you have any questions you would like to put before the group as to how to interpret any particular verse(s)  in our reading.  Let scripture testify to scripture: Share with us where you sense contradiction between passages elsewhere.
  • What did you find convicting and inspiring at the same time?  Share with us how the Spirit of God is working within you as a messenger, both within and outside of our fellowship group.
  • Share with the group how our study is calling or confirming to you a new mission to glorify God in our times.

31:6 jumped out at me. Can you imagine?: The men were talking about stoning him. David himself was suffering through the shock of having his two wives also being taken captive by the Amelekites. But, through all that, “he found strength in the Lord.”

Check out John GIll’s commentary on this verse:

I would add Ephesians 6:13 to the lesson: “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

Thoughts? / Reflections?

Question on 26:21: Saul acknowledge his sin to David after David spared his life. If only had he confessed his sin before the Lord, would he have been beyond the point of forgiveness at this point. I think not.

Soli Deo Gloria!
