The sublime nature of praying the Psalms in repeated cycles is the rarity that I focus on the same prior verses for that day number. It is all about where I am right now; God speaking to me in His presence! In our last cycle of today’s reading, dated New Years Eve – 2020, I posted on 96:5 , 98.9 / 99.9. Today it is 97: 1-5. I encourage y’all to read through these verses and I am going to follow with my Evidence Bible footnote :

“Here the declaration that the Lord reigns is followed by the poetic language of theophany or epiphany — descriptions of spectacular natural phenomena in the heavens and on earth that reveal God’s presence. Much of the imagery goes back to Sinai. (Deuteronomy 4: 11, 24), but it also anticipates the coming ‘Day of the Lord.’ Thick, dark clouds (Psalm 97:2) usually refer to judgment from the Lord, whose decisions are always right and just. Lightning, fire, and earthquakes all speak of penetrating nature of divine judgment. The psalm refers, ultimately to the future coming of the Lord (the verb is prophetic perfect). When He comes to establish His kingdom on earth, generations will see Him and be overwhelmed by the power. “

So, what is a prophetic perfect verb? I couldn’t blow by it, I felt compelled to look it up…

Indeed: “A perfective of confidence idiom: ‘here now but not yet’ or ‘already – not yet’. (Jimmy note – The Lord our God transcends time, no?). Also, this article is a good answer example for those who ask me: “Why does an old man like you want to study Hebrew and Greek?” And also an excellent example of why: “Let scripture testify to scripture!” Isolating on single verses , without corroborating verses and research, can veer us off Gods path of Truth. (Romans 12:2 !). We would have an entire class on illustrations on just this prior sentence.

I will follow this up with the today’s Sapphires devotion that connects to today’s reading. What a coincidence! haha

Soli Deo Gloria! Grab onto Him and don’t let go! We were born to testify to Him in this, the most evil of times… As Jesus warned: “What if you gain the whole world, and lose your soul in the process?” Failure is not an option!

Love,

Your brother in Christ,

Jimmy

p.s. – “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.” Luke 12:48. So, God forbid that I should think for one moment that I can even approach capturing the sublime eternal joy of a single moment where He lifts the curtain. It is instead : A prayer of praise and move on to the mission He has given me with renewed focus. The “curtain raising” events are really cool!; but, in retrospect, I find it is oftentimes when I am weak, not when I am strong. If that’s true, it might be better that they are less frequent than they used to be, at least while we are still in the single relative breath of this life. I can’t say for sure; it is not worth reflecting on. It is not about me.
