Why the book of Ezekiel? Let me share some excerpts from “The Big Idea”, an Introduction to “Be Reverent – OT Commentary – Ezekiel” by Warren W. Wiersbe: 1). “The book of Ezekiel can help me, because reverence is the Big Idea that runs throughout the book”; 2). “The book of Ezekiel shows God’s glory, holiness and justice in blockbuster visions. It will put you in awe of God.” (more than before, a never-ending process.)
And my own reflection:
- No one was listening to the prophets Isaiah; Jeremiah; and Ezekiel. We need to get over it, following their example: “Just trust and obey! We can’t lose, because God can’t lose!” We are not prophets, but we are all called to witness His truth to a hostile world. (“The Watchman”- Ezekiel 33 – 35) I can’t get over how I have such a short window of opportunity that will soon close forever. We won’t be able to witness to the lost nor suffer for His name in heaven. Just imagine a fellow soul greeting you in heaven with: “I know you!; You are the messenger that invited me here!”
- The mystery of God! In heaven, if I imagine “day” increments, each day I will know him more than the day before, but I will never fully get “my head fully around His sublime majesty!” Praise God!
