10/19/2021 – Whoa, check this out!: 1989 interview of Mother Teresa by William F. Buckley

It is never about the messenger, as Mother Teresa constantly reminded people, but the indwelling Holy Spirit shined through her with a bright light that was blinding. We must stand firm on the Word and God’s truth. But let’s not divide the body of Christ unnecesarily. I have heard so many christians pronounce for all to hear: “catholics are not Christians!” That is doctrinally a false statement.

Only God measures a heart. But there are catholics that are not Christians. But you can plug in any christian denomination that you want to name including evanglical non-denominationals, and illustrate a “future christian” walk, not a current one. Would you have told Mother Teresa that she was not christian? John Paul II? Archbishop Fulton Sheen? St. Francis of Assisi? My father? (I know, most of you didnt have a change to meet him before he went home to the Lord.)

So, God promises that the remnant Church will never be defeated. We stand firmly on His Truth and His Word. But let’s not create division in the body of Christ! I bring this up because I have heard “catholics are not Christians!” numerous times over the years. But in my active catholic life , over a decade focused around the 80s, I never heard it spoken once about any protestant denomination, nor did I hear a single “smear” comment.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Love,

Jimmy

Thanks for the showing some famous Catholics in a good light. William Buckley showed it was possible to be Catholic and conservative at a time when the US Catholic church was rushing to the left. On another note, right now the most determined Catholic activists who are trying to re-energize the church consistently remind Catholics to study the Bible and be more open to the Holy Spirit – Charismatic gifts. Something my Christian friends help remind me.
