An excellent example of David having a heart for God:

“Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You. Deliver me form the guilt of bloodshed, O God. The God of my salvation, And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice , or else I would give it. You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and contrite heart — These, O God, You will not despise.” Psalm 51 13 – 17

And the footnote to these verses from “The Evidence Bible – NKJV”:

” ‘Transgressors’ are those who have transgressed the moral Law. The Law is the ‘tutor’ that teaches them that they are sinners in the eyes of God (Galations 3:24; Romans 3: 19,20). It is the Law that sings aloud of God’s righteousness, breaks the human spirit, and gives the sinner reason to be contrite over sins in which he previously delighted.” See Romans 7:13, 24, 25.

Soli Deo Gloria!
