10/31/2024 – Day 130 – Psalm 54 – 56 / 55:13 – Who was the companion betrayer of David?
Let’s take a look at John Gill’s commentary for this verse:

Gill draws a parallel, indeed Atrophel is to David as Judas was to Jesus. George Washington was a praying man and one tough cookie, he could take a lot and not show it. But in Glenn Beck’s book, he pointed out that George was devastated for some time regarding the betrayal of Benedict Arnold. Jesus asked: “What will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life? Matthew 16: 26. A Herod example is pathetic enough, but these two examples are far worse, neither man had any prospect of gaining anything in the “world’s” evil terms.
As noted in our post of 10/01/2020 for this reading: “In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not fear. What can a man do to me?” Psalm 56: 10-11
And we close this reading with: “I am obligated by vows to You, God; I will make my thank offerings to You. For You delivered me from death, even my feet from stumbling, to walk before God in the light of life.” Psalm 56: 12-13.
SolI Deo Gloria!
