02/14/2024 – Milton Lee Olive III (11/7/46 – 10/22/65), my answer to our BSF bible study question: “Who or what has helped your love for Jesus and God’s Word to grow?” // Song tribute: “Goodnight Saigon” – Billy Joel (attached)
How did I get here to Milton Lee Olive’s story? Well, we are in the Gospel of John Chapter 14 of our Tuesday men’s BSF study of the Gospel of John. One of our questions for our fellowship tonight: “Who or what has helped your love for Jesus and God’s Word to grow? How might you encourage this growth in others? Milton Lee was the clear choice.
Of the 263 Vietnam War Medal of Honor recipients, 74 involved instances attributed for falling on a grenade or other explosive devices. I would encourage you to do a duckduckgo.com search on “Did soldiers in Vietnam really belly flop on grenades…” , a reddit article I was not able to cut and paste here.

Thie link below notes Milton Lee’s service even before he volunteered into an Airborne Brigade in Vietnam.
Soli Deo Gloria!
Billy Joel wrote and performed an awesome tribute to our Vietnam veterans. I don’t know where he is today, but prayers for Billy Joel as a future Christian; he has lived a very tough life. The first time I heard this in concert in Denver in the early 80s, it brought me to tears.
