11/01/2022 – Day 246 – John 13 – 15 / “Jesus Comforts His Disciples”/ Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit”/”The Vine and the Branches
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.” John 15: 12-14 and again: “This is my command: Love each other.” 15:17

After reading verse 13 in the above link of John Gill’s commentary, click verse 14 forward. It is very unusual that I take issue with John, but, at the end of verse 13, I don’t expect that many men have laid down their life for others simply for applause or vain glory.
The indwelling Holy Spirit:
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever — the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” John 14: 16 – 17.

Consider that for a moment: The one and only God living within each of us! A look forward to John 17: Jesus prays: “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me; May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” Sublimely unfathomable, how is that I got an invitation to the eternal dance of the Triune God, in perfect agape love? ‘(*) – an analogy pointed out by Timothy Keller in his book: “Jesus the King”, chapter 1 – “The Dance”.
Soli Deo Gloria!
