11/08/2024 – Day 138 – Job – Chapters 39 – 40 / 39: 19 – 25 “A broken spirit, the creation of the horse.”
Check this commentary out from “The Evidence Bible – NKJV”:
“39: 1,2. Outside of the creative hand of God there is no logical explanation for the instincts of the animal kingdom. To credit evolution with the marvels of creation is to pay homage to a non-existent idol (see Romans 1: 18 – 23)
Then the specific creation of the horse, I’ll leave it to y’all to reread the passage:
“39: 19 – 25. A broken spirit. God made the horse like no other animal. it is clothed with a courageous ‘thunder’ — an incredibly brave spirit, an amazing energy that can be harnessed by man and taken into the very heat of battle unafraid. After David sinned with Bathsheba, he cried, ‘The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart — these , O God, You will not despise’ (Psalm 51:17). To understand what is meant by a ‘broken spirit,’ think of a wild horse. Although beautiful, it is useless to man. So man takes that wild animal and ‘breaks’ its spirit. He does not take away its beauty or its character; he just harnesses its incredible energy so he can turn the animal any way he wishes. James spoke of this: ‘Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body’. (James 3:3)
That is what God wants from you and me. He wants to ‘break’ our wild, rebellious spirit so He can take us into the heat of battle, and trust us to turn any way He wishes. You have never been more needed in the battle to reach the lost. Have you surrendered the reigns of your life to God? Do you have a ‘broken spirit’? Can he trust you to rush into the heat of battle and share the gospel with those headed to hell? If not, why not?”
Soli Deo Gloria!
