The New Israeli Identity

Thursday, November 13, 2025

When God brought the first Jewish settlers back to Israel, they were largely from Russia and Eastern Europe. Many were raised in a world of books and rabbinic Judaism. Now they had to roll up their sleeves, get shovels, ploughs, hammers, and learn to work the soil. They were doing what was completely foreign to them. And yet, it was this new life which was their true calling. Israel was their true land, their true home – and this was their true life. In the same way, when you’re born again, you’re given a new identity – holy, godly, pure, and victorious. And you might feel that this isn’t the real you – that the real you is the old you; the sinful, ungodly one who never measured up. But just as it was for the first Israelis, so for you – you may be more familiar with the old you, because it’s all you’ve known. But the old you isn’t the real you – the new you is. Start believing it and start living it – you are a spiritual Israeli.

From Message #1495 – Mysteries Of The Secret Israelis I

Note: This is Jonathan’s devotional for yesterday. Yesterday, I had too many good ones to choose from them. Well, guess what, I have the same issue today. haha.

Not to take issue with the messenger Jonathan Cahn, but his scripture for this solid scriptural message, Ezekiel 18:31, is a message to repent, or pre-justification. I submit that Psalm 103:12 and Romans 8:1 better support this message of “avoiding sin guilt in the lifelong sanctification process , post justification. Now, as I grieve the Holy Spirit through my sin, I need to follow through with a prayer of repentance asap. But I don’t carry sin with me as an evermore weightier sack of potatoes. For those of you you saw the movie “The Mission” at the point of conversion of a main character, that image came to mind.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.” (Psalm 103 11 – 14)

Comment: I have strong moments; I have weak moments; but, Praise God!; the fear of the LORD never leaves me! (opposed to the burden of mounting guilt that has been removed, a tool of satan)

Life in the Spirit

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but in according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8: 1 – 4)
