12/04/2020 – Day 201-Proverbs 11-12 // Lifestyle Evangelism – see 11:30 / “Sheep Among Wolves – Volume II” an FAI production – youtube link
“It has always been difficult to understand those evangelical Christians who… say they serve the Lord, but they divide their days so as to leave plenty of time to play and loaf and enjoy the pleasures of the world as well. They are at ease while the world burns.” A.W. Tozer
It is extremly difficult to try to “cherry pick” verses from even a single chapter of Proverbs. But I will share four here with a fascinating “Lifestyle evangelism” discipline guide , a footnote to 11:30.
- This one made me think once again how far we have drifted away from God and wisdom: 12:1: “Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid.”
- 12:22: “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal truthfully are His delight.”
- 12:28: “In the way of righteousness is life. And in its pathway there is no death.”
- 11:30: “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.” And here is my footnote to that verse in my Evidence Bible:
- “Lifestyle evangelism. Here’s how to cultivate true lifestyle evangelism: 1) Pray that God uses you to reach the lost. 2) Ask the wisdom to use the time you effectively for evangelism. Treat every day though it is your last opportunity to share Christ. One day you will be right. 3) Study how to answer every man who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you. (1 Peter 3:15, see Proverbs 16:23) 4) Don’t wait for sinners to approach you, go to them (Mark 16:15) Find a “fishing hole” and go there regularly. 5) Use any anxiety as a catalyst to drive you to prayer and trust in God. Don’t let the fear of man paralyze you (Phillipians 1:28) You will realize the spiritual nature of fear after you conquer it. Confront it with the Word of God: “I can do all things through Christ who strenghens me” (Phillipians 4:13) 6) Encourage others, by example and exhortation, in the task of evangelism. “
I recall the documentary film that chronicled the amazing story of a work-in-process, the fastest growing church in the world, namely Iran. They evangelize on the streets covertly risking their lives on a daily basis, messengers for the Holy Spirit, transforming the discipled to disciples within the process of say a 30 minute witness.
“Note: “Disciple Making Movements” – “DMM”, with the comment in the film: “We do not convert to disciple, but disciple to convert.” Follow it through , an amazing story. Soli Deo Gloria!
