When I post Alistair’s sermon, I usually wait until the transcript is downloaded with the video inot truthforlife.org. I don’t think it is in the transcript, but Alistair noted that an elderly lady in his congregation told him that she is so looking forward to the end of the 2 Samuel series as : “she is so tired from all the killing”. As I have noted, Alistair even adds some humor to these congregational quips, but he stays on course. From my recent post of his seminary lecture on Spurgeon, It is clear that he follows in the path of Spurgeon by pointing every sermon to the good news of Jesus Christ.

Spirit led expository preachers deliver below the surface meanings that connect to large biblical truths in an amazing way. It is like unpeeling an onion that never runs out of layers.

As Alistair notes in this sermon:

“Jesus’ own family tree is punctuated by messed-up, broken people because he came to save messed-up broken people.”

Soli Deo Gloria!
