I particularly call y’all’s attention to Matthew Henry’s commentary on the
“Annias and Sapphira” section – verses 5:1 through 5:11. Indeed, the last verse may even be an understatement: “Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.”
Last cycle, I covered this reading on a posting dated 02/02/2021 noting 6:15: “All, who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looking intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.” They observed clearly the evidence that Stephen was a messenger of God, yet they executed him on the spot anyway, as we will read next Monday. I submit this is the unforgivable sin once again against the Holy Spirit, seeing the full love of God and pronouncing it evil. Thoughts?
- Finally, Gamaliel ,” a Pharisee teacher of the law”, tutor for Saul. I think this was really wise proposal put forth by Gamaliel before the Sanhedrin assembly, albeit from an unbeliever. (see verses: 5: 13 through 40)
Soli Deo Gloria!
