12/17/2020 – Day 214 – Psalms 90 -92- “Abiding under the shadow of the Almighty…”

91:1 : “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

My bible footnote to the this verse: “This psalm is good medicine for those of us who sometimes feel sick with fear at the thought of evangelism. How can we not draw courage from such incredible promises.”

The prosperity gospel might be prone to grab onto Psalm 91 as in 91:9: “Because you have made the Lord who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you…” The jewish people did not have much of a developed concept of salvation and God’s eternal Kingdom. So is the Bible in error here. No, in essence no evil shall befall you is absolutely true in an eternal sense. Our suffering , even our martyrdom in this life is to God’s glory and thereby the body of Christ as well. So, we are definitely confronted by evil but evil does not befall us.

Look at Psalm 92:12: “The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord / Shall fourish in the courts of our God…”

Soli Deo Gloria!
