Halley’s Bible Handbook summarizes Psalms 77,78. Historical Psalms, thusly:

“Review of God’s Marvelous Works, in His dealings with Israel. Contrasting God’s Mighty Works, and Israel’s Habitual Unfaithfulness and Disobedience.”

The post dated 09/01/2022 from last cycle for today’s reading covered chapter 78, verse #3, repeated in verse #7.

Today, let’s look at Psalm 78: 5,6: “For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which he commanded our fathers, That thy should make them known to their children; That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born, That they may arise and declare them to their children ;”

And here is the commentary for these two verses in “The Evidence Study Bible – NKJV”:

78:5,6 If you want to bring children to the Savior, teach them the Ten Commandments in light of New Testament revelation (lust is adultery, hatred is murder, etc.). Immediately after God’s moral Law (the Ten Commandments) to Israel, Moses said to teach them diligently. In Deuteronomy 6: 6 – 9, he explains how to do that : speak of the Commandments when you sit with your children at home, as you go for walks together, at their bedtime, and when they get up (nighttime and morning devotions). Bind the Commandments on your hands, in front of your eyes, and at the entry of your house – in other words, do not forget them. Can you name the Ten Commandments? Can your children name them? See Exodus 20: 1-17 and Deuteronomy 11: 18 – 21. To help your kids memorize the Ten Commandments. See page 314.”
