7/19/2020 – Question Re: “Favorite Songs” – 2 of 2
Ok, for this 2nd list, list your favorite christian song (s), into two categories: What are your personal favorites today? a) classical hymns ; b) symphonic or choral productions from classical composers. Sadly , I will not have any from my 1st list carrying over to this list. (although one my selections that I will post before the end of this week has a symbolic christian life interpretation) Brothers, what say you?

Personal favorites are
a) Lift High the Cross and A Mighty Fortress is our God.
b) Michael W Smith had a praise and worship live album that is awesome. I can’t recall the specific songs. But the whole album is great. Then there is a second one called Worship Again!

In the question: I left out the category of Christian contemporary. So, let’s open it up even further if y’all are game.
Christian contemporary:
1) “Sweetly Broken” by Jeremy Riddle
2) “Majesty” by Delirious (an English group that retired a decade ago after many years together)
3) “I Can Only Imagine” by MercyMe (I thought they would blow the roof off of the auditorium at 1stPres in Houston. At least there was a full house. We saw Ashley Cleveland there with only 25 or so people in the audience. She took requests and someone shouted out “Gimme Shelter” with 2nds immediately joining in the call. She said: “No fair, the Stones have five, I am only one” After he rendition, I told Nancy I liked her version better.” So why don’t I have this on the list!
4) “The Only Name (Yours Will Be)” by Big Daddy Weave
OK – Now the Classics:
1) “The Hallelujah Chorus” of Handel’s “Messiah!
2) “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desire ” – Bach (on my list of top ten favorites of all of history)
3) “Amazing Grace” by John Newton (Bagpipes of course!)
